One of my customers gave me this lead in Nigeria and told me he didn’t have time to pursue it. He forwarded me the email, and I responded to it accordingly. Now I have heard of Nigerian scams before, but it usually involved wiring funds to banks accounts, or lottery winners needing to claim their prize, but this email looked damn real especially when I read the original introductory inquiry letter. Being in the business, I recognized some of the specifications for the goods they required and it was quite technical so I somewhat dismissed it as a scam and pursued it just incase. Here is the first letter.

Then I noticed on the bottom it said I had to pay $1850 non-refundable tender and registration fee. Now most foreign government contracts I have dealt with do have a such a fee. But I wasn’t about to wire 1900 bucks to some dude in Africa that I haven’t even met.

I got another letter from the Ministry….
